Pictograms

July 17, 2010

GITI's intial design utilized a text and hyper-text interaction system that was not dependent on the ability of the user to see the monitor, or for there to be a functional image server. As graphical interaction systems are sometimes more practical than a text interaction system, pictograms may be utilized in GITI for a limited number of purposes and under a few guidelines.

  • All pictograms MUST carry an alternative text describing the menu option clearly
  • Pictograms MUST be an appropriate size and use appropriate colors
  • Pictograms MAY be simple line drawings
  • Pictograms MAY be monochromatic
  • Pictograms MAY NOT be the majority of a module's content
  • It is reccomended that pictograms be utilized for navigational purposes
